What inspired you to pursue a dual career as both a colorist and stylist? When I attended beauty school in 1973, the focus was on both coloring and cutting hair. I was naturally drawn to color, although I appreciated all the services offered.
How do you stay updated on the latest trends in both hair color and styling techniques? I attend educational seminars at least once a month.
What advice would you give clients on maintaining their color and style between salon visits? I recommend that my clients use professional shampoo and conditioner that are free from sulfates and sodium chloride to help maintain their color. Additionally, to shield their color from the sun, wearing a hat is advisable. It's also essential to apply a heat protectant before using hot styling tools.
What is your favorite hairstyle or trend right now, and why do you love it? My preferred hairstyle is a layered bob, which offers a variety of styling options. This versatile cut suits most face shapes and can range from chin length to collarbone length.
What are some common misconceptions clients have about hair color and styling that you’d like to clarify? Many clients believe that their hair should be dirty before applying color; however, color actually adheres better to clean, dry hair. Today, developers and color treatments are so advanced that most clients experience little to no sensitivity.
Additionally, drying and styling your hair with a quality dryer and heat tools significantly enhances its condition.e hair.
If you weren't a hair stylist, what other profession do you think you'd enjoy and why? If I weren't a stylist, I would pursue a career as a travel consultant. Travel is my passion, and I enjoy exploring diverse places around the globe to experience how different cultures live.
