What inspired you to pursue a dual career as both a colorist and stylist? When I was a teenager, my mother asked that I set her hair in rollers for church. She demonstrated how to do it, and from that point on, every Saturday, I would style her hair. This experience made me realize that I had the potential to become a hair stylist. I began cutting my own hair as well, and I quickly became passionate about it. After graduating high school, I decided to pursue my education in hair styling.

How do you stay updated on the latest trends in both hair color and styling techniques? I keep myself informed about the latest trends by participating in continuing education classes, watching videos from fellow stylists, reading fashion magazines, and engaging with educational content from our hair color and professional product companies.

What are some common misconceptions clients have about hair color and styling that you’d like to clarify? I often hear people express their belief that washing their hair daily is harmful. However, I don’t share that view. Shampooing every day isn't detrimental to your hair, especially if you are using professional-grade products tailored to your specific hair type and needs. In fact, prolonged exposure to high heat is likely the most damaging factor for hair health.

Additionally, I've observed that clients often face challenges when dyeing their hair at home. Properly applying the color on oneself can be quite tricky. Overlapping color can lead to excessive tinting, resulting in hair that appears too dark and may lose its vibrancy over time.

If you weren't a hair stylist, what other profession do you think you'd enjoy and why? If I weren't a hair stylist, I would choose to be either an interior designer or a garden designer. I believe in pursuing a career that is creative and radiates beauty.

What is your favorite hobby to outside of work? One of my favorite pastimes outside of work is kitchen redesign. I’ve completed three projects and am currently working on another. I enjoy the process of reimagining and planning spaces to enhance their functionality while also elevating the overall decor.
